Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA)

HASA is a voluntary, non-profit association of the majority of private hospitals in South Africa. It is funded by its members through subscription fees based on the number of hospital beds of each member. HASA is mandated by its members to lead the industry by engaging proactively with government and other stakeholders on policy and legislative matters, to represent the interests of its members and the private sector in appropriate forums, to facilitate independent research to inform national health policy and healthcare reform, and to serve the interests of patients by promoting quality care and patient safety.

Law Society of South Africa (LSSA)

The LSSA speaks nationally on behalf of the attorneys’ profession;
provides leadership and support to the profession through policy development and stakeholder relations;
publishes De Rebus, the SA attorneys journal in print and digital format, which circulates to all attorneys, and judges as well as subscribers in print and digital format, as well as an app;
interrogates and makes input on policy and draft legislation in the public interest;
provides vocational training to over 1 400 candidate attorneys a year; attendance fees are subvented by the Attorneys Fidelity Fund;
has 10 Centres of the School for Legal Practice: Bloemfontein, Polokwane, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Potchefstroom, East London, Pretoria and Johannesburg as well as a distance training centre in cooperation with Unisa
is accredited as the premier provider of other practical legal training courses (PLT) for candidate attorneys in terms of the Attorneys Act, 1979;
is accredited as the premier provider of subsidised Practice Management Training (PMT) for mandatory practice management in terms of the Judicial Matters Second Amendment Act, 2003;
maintains standards by setting examination papers for the Attorneys Admission, Conveyancing and Notarial professional examinations for attorneys; and
maintains a national database on statistics and trends in the attorneys’ profession.

Africa Leadership Initiative South Africa (ALISA)

Since our inception, ALI has served as a Pan-African initiative with a strong view that Africa’s future lies in the investment and development of effective, values-based and enlightened African leaders.

As the Africa Leadership Initiative, it is our clear-cut objective to develop the next generation of values-based African leaders. These leaders will not only impart knowledge and share opinions, but also guide and lead their countries with integrity.

Our mission has not been an easy one, but through our programme, we have been able to empower a number of leaders who are now shaping the continent in a positive light.

ALI forms part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). This network was established worldwide in collaboration with the Aspen Institute, and consists of other leadership initiatives similar to ALI.

The Africa Leadership Initiative also spans across Africa. It is represented in three regions: ALI West Africa, ALI East Africa and ALI South Africa.
