Percy Fitzpatrick Institute for African Ornithology (PFIAO)

The Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology (affectionately known as the Fitztitute) is located at the University of Cape Town, South Africa where it is housed within the Zoology Department. Situated at the tip of Africa the Fitztitute is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the vast untapped biological resources of the continent. Members of the department are committed to developing a greater understanding of these, through the training of scientists and the pursuit of primary research, from evolutionary ecology to conservation biology. The Institute is also home to the Niven Library, which holds what is probably Africa’s most comprehensive Ornithology collection and reprints of the Institute’s vast publication record.

State Diamond Trader (SDT)

The State Diamond Trader is a state-owned entity established in terms of Section 14 of the Diamonds Act 56, 1986, as amended (“the Act”). It operates in the diamond industry with the aim to grow local diamond beneficiation.

The mandate of the State Diamond Trader is to buy and sell rough diamonds and to promote equitable access to and beneficiation of the country’s diamond resources. The entity strives to address distortions created by the country’s historical exclusion of certain population groups from economic participation. It aims to grow South Africa’s diamond cutting and polishing industry by enabling and increasing participation of Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSAs) in the diamond beneficiation industry. The entity is empowered by law to purchase up to 10% of the run-of-mine (ROM) production from all diamond producers in South Africa. It sells to registered customers through an application and approval process.

Project Management South Africa (PMSA)

Project Management SA (formerly known as PMISA) was formed in 1997 as a National Association to represent project management professionals across all sectors in South Africa. Since 1997 the PMSA membership has grown to almost 1000 members, who are drawn from a diverse cross section of industries and ethnic groups.

The drive to create PMSA came from a need for a cross sector forum for practitioners to meet and work together and for a national body to work with local organisations and the South African government in developing effective project management within South Africa.
