The research and work carried out at SANSA focuses on space science, engineering and technology that can promote development, build human capital and provide important national services. Much of this work involves monitoring the Earth and our surrounding environment, and using the collected data to ensure that navigation, communication technology and weather forecasting services function as intended.

Continue reading →Seda was established in December 2004 through the National Small Business Amendment Act – Act 29 of 2004 – as an agency under the then-Department of Trade and Industry (the dti). The establishment merged three entities: Ntsika Enterprise Promotion Agency, National Manufacturing Advisory Centre and the Community Public Private Partnership (CPPP) programme. The GODISA Trust and the National Technology Transfer Centre were merged with Seda in April 2006, becoming the Seda Technology Programme (Stp). The small enterprise support function of the South African Quality Institute and the technology-related activities of the Technology for Women in Business were incorporated with Stp in 2008. Stp was fully integrated into Seda structures in 2009. In 2014, Seda’s mandate and functions were transferred from the dti to DSBD.
Continue reading →PRASA is established in terms of Section 22 of the Legal Succession to the South African Transport Services Act on 2008 (as amended). It is a public entity wholly-owned by Government and report to the Minister of Transport. The legal mandate directs PRASA to deliver commuter rail services in the Metropolitan areas of South Africa, long-distance (inter-city) rail and bus services within, to and from the borders of the Republic of South Africa. This mandate is implemented in consultation with and under the guidance of the Minister of Transport.
Continue reading →The PDMA, an initiative of the South African Poultry Association was established to have direct involvement in poultry disease control measures – ensuring quality control nationwide. It was envisaged that the PDMA would form partnerships with several stakeholders. The main stakeholder would be government, as most of the matters around disease control require government input. Over a period, the PDMA will form a Public Private Partnership with government to ensure that its objectives are met.
