The National Association of Social Housing Organisations – NASHO – is an independent member-based association of 21 social housing institutions (SHIs) across South Africa and 2 support organisations.
Its primary objective is to assist to build a strong and sustainable social housing sector in South Africa with Social Housing Institutions at the heart of the delivery.
Originally the KwaZulu Natal Furniture Manufacturers Association was known as the Natal Furniture Manufacturers Association. The above Association together with the Furniture Workers Industrial Union ”Natal” now known as the National Union of Furniture and Allied Workers of South Africa were the founder members of the Industrial Council for the Furniture Manufacturing Industry, Natal. Amendments to the Labour Relations Act (LRA) of 1995 greatly changed the face of industrial councils (now known as bargaining councils) by significantly increasing their role and power. The NABC played a leading role in the implementation of these amendments and unsured that its member councils were geared for these significant changes.
