Lusito Association (LPAC)
The Lusito Association was established in 1979 by a group of Portuguese parents who found a need for a school for the differently abled within the Portuguese community. The Lusito Association started the first Lusito School under the auspices of the Mental Health Society of the Witwatersrand and has subsequently grown with the school. The Lusito Association is a non-profit organisation whose function is to manage and fundraise, to build and maintain, the Lusito School. The best known fundraising event is the Lusito Land Festival, winning Leisure Options Reader’s Choice Award for Johannesburg’s best festival. 100% of all funds raised from these fundraising events go directly to the school.

The African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI) was established in 2011 by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town as a strategic initiative, to “facilitate and substantially extend climate change research and education at UCT with the specific context of addressing the development challenges of Africa from an African perspective”.
We aspire to take UCT’s work in climate change and development to new heights and into new spheres of influence to achieve enhanced impact and ensure climate compatible and resilient development pathways into the future.

Its mission as the independent statutory quality council for South African higher education, is to: lead and manage quality assurance; research and monitor trends and development; initiate critical discourse on contemporary higher education issues; and provide advice to the Minister on strategy and policy.

Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA) was launched in April 2006 as an inclusive, umbrella professional association for individual and strategic partner providers, buyers and trainers of coaching and mentoring services. COMENSA’S core purpose is to empower coaches and mentors to make a positive contribution to the people of South Africa.
COMENSA is is a non-statutory, SAQA-recognised professional body.
They have six professional designations:
- COMENSA Credentialed Coach;
- COMENSA Senior Coach;
- COMENSA Master Coach;
- COMENSA Credentialed Mentor (CCM);
- COMENSA Senior Mentor (CSM);
- COMENSA Master Mentor (CMM)
National Education, Health & Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU)
NEHAWU struggles for union recognition, a living wage and a free and democratic South Africa. NEHAWU members faced brutal repression from the apartheid regime which saw the union as a direct challenge to its control of the public service. In other sectors, bitter struggles were fought against employers with reactionary practices like the Lifecare Group, Clinic Holdings, various old age homes, universities and technikons.
The battle cry of NEHAWU’s national strike in 1992 was “Wawutshelwe ubani ukuthi I-NEHAWU ifile?” Who told you that NEHAWU is dead? This slogan highlights the union’s will to survive.
Young Entrepreneur Foundation (YEF)
Young Entrepreneurs teaches children, between ages 7-18, vital entrepreneurial, financial literacy, employability and workplace readiness skills and helps them start and grow their own micro-enterprises in a fun and experiential way.

The International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA), a non-profit organisation, was established as a result of the need for universities and universities of technology in South Africa to respond to international educational trends. If South Africa is to remain competitive within the global economic environment it is important that our higher education provides opportunities for students to obtain a global perspective to their studies. Any individual/higher education institution/organisation interested in the aims of the IEASA may apply for membership.
