Continue reading →The Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) is one of the 21 SETAs established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) in 2001.CATHSSETA was formally known as the Tourism and Hospitality Education and Training Authority (THETA) until 1 April 2012, when they became the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority. Their mandate is to facilitate skills development within their sub-sectors through the disbursement of grants for learning programmes and monitoring of education and training as outlined in the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).

The service delivery environment with respect to SASSETA covers both the public and private sectors. The public security sector consists of government security agencies and law enforcement bodies, whose role is to protect and serve the public and the interests of the state. The private sector comprises of companies and bodies who provide private security and legal services.

The IoDSA is a non-profit company (NPC) with members and is the only professional body for directors that is recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) (ID422).
The IoDSA is also a promoter of corporate governance in South Africa, serving as convener and secretariat to the King Committee on Corporate Governance; and having ownership of the various internationally recognised King Codes/Reports.
