Federation of South African Societies of Pathology (FSASP)

The main function of the Federation of South African Societies of Pathology is to oversee the organizing of the annual Pathology Congress of the Federation. As a non profit organization, the surplus made at these events are provided to the daughter Societies solely for the purpose of inviting guest speakers to the following congress. In this way South African Pathologists and professionals in ancillary sciences are exposed with exposure to leading authors in Anatomical Pathology, Haematology, Clinical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology and Forensic Medicine.

The Environmental Education Association of Southern Africa is a voluntary membership based multi-sectoral and multi-organisational association of educators, researchers, policy makers, students and practitioners. The day to day running of the Association is run by a voluntary elected Council, and administered by a secretariat. It is open to all who engage with the relationship between the environment and social processes including politics, economy and development. The Association has been an integral part of the sub-regional evolvement from nature studies, to environmental education, education for sustainable development and its various manifestations, e.g. green economy.

Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA)

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) provides skills development services to the construction sector, to implement the objectives of the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS III) and to ensure that people obtain the critical or scarce skills that are needed to build the capacity of the construction sector to become economically sustainable and globally competitive. To better understand the skills need in the construction industry CETA conducts research on the skills that employers need. CETA is responsible for identifying skills gaps and developing the education and training programmes that are appropriate to address the skills shortage in line with the skills needs of the construction industry. CETA also funds a number of learning programmes including skills programmes, learnerships, apprenticeships, internships and bursaries at various public education and training institutions such as Universities and TVET Colleges. that all training reflects the needs and requirement of the sector.

Africa Institute of South Africa (AISA)

The Africa Institute of SA (AISA) undertakes basic and applied policy-relevant research that focuses on the development challenges and opportunities facing the African continent. It seeks to provide leadership and harness African agency in the drive for the transformation of African societies into dynamic, peaceful, prosperous spaces. Founded in 1956 and incorporated into the HSRC in 2014, AISA takes its lead from Agenda 2063, Africa’s strategic framework that aims to deliver on its goal for inclusive and sustainable development. The Africa Institute of South Africa undertakes basic, applied and comparative research devoted to the study of Africa and African Diasporas. The centre also collaborates with and provides research-based policy advice to African multilateral organisations on public affairs. Its projects create platforms for dialogue, research dissemination, and capacity building through interventions such as the African Unity for Renaissance Conference, the African Young Graduates Conference and the Archie Mafeje Memorial Annual Lecture. AISA’s key stakeholders include the African Union, the United Nations, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the Southern African Development Community, government departments, universities, science councils and civil society.
