RASA is a body that was formed in 2004 to act in the interests of the South African restaurateur as a voice and lobbying body to speak on the behalf of restauranteurs.
RASA has direct representation with government and various other boards and promotes restaurants as a sector of hospitality.
RASA lobbies against government and has relationships with SAT, NDT, DOL TBCSGTCATHSSETBAC and other friends of the association.

This process remains critical to ensure a safe and wholesome product to consumers. The Meat Safety Act, 2000 (Act no. 40 of 2000) addresses measures to promote the safety of meat and animal products and to establish and maintain Essential National Standards in respect of abattoirs.
Continue reading →The Red Meat Industry Forum (RMIF) of South Africa is an umbrella council consisting of 13 nominated members each representing the interests of the most nationally representative sector specific organizations within the Red Meat Value Chain from the primary producer to the consumer. The RMIF was established in 1994 when the Agricultural control boards were disbanded and it was formally constituted in 1997 in accordance with the provisions of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, 1996 (Act No. 47 of 1996) as amended.

Certain objectives of the Protein Research Foundation (PRF) and its predecessors, including funding of research to achieve specific objectives, date back to 1973. Before 1990, certain other objectives had to be achieved using specific funds, but those were terminated in 1989 to make way for a pure research function and related matters. Those were determined formally in 1990, with the establishment of a research trust now known as the Protein Research Foundation (PRF).
Continue reading →The Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB) is an independent service provider of quality certification and cold chain management services for producers and exporters of perishable food products. As a national public entity, the PPECB is constituted and mandated in terms of the Perishable Products Export Control Act (PPEC Act), No 9, of 1983 to perform cold chain services. The PPECB also delivers inspection and food safety services assigned by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) under the APS Act, No.119 of 1990. The presence of the PPECB in the export industry is furthermore enhanced by its recognition as an approved third country under the European Commission Regulation 543 of 2011. This agreement recognises the South African inspection systems as equivalent to that of the EU inspection bodies and therefore ensures less frequent checks at the port of import into the EU.
