RASA is a body that was formed in 2004 to act in the interests of the South African restaurateur as a voice and lobbying body to speak on the behalf of restauranteurs.
RASA has direct representation with government and various other boards and promotes restaurants as a sector of hospitality.
RASA lobbies against government and has relationships with SAT, NDT, DOL TBCSGTCATHSSETBAC and other friends of the association.
Continue reading →The Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB) is an independent service provider of quality certification and cold chain management services for producers and exporters of perishable food products. As a national public entity, the PPECB is constituted and mandated in terms of the Perishable Products Export Control Act (PPEC Act), No 9, of 1983 to perform cold chain services. The PPECB also delivers inspection and food safety services assigned by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) under the APS Act, No.119 of 1990. The presence of the PPECB in the export industry is furthermore enhanced by its recognition as an approved third country under the European Commission Regulation 543 of 2011. This agreement recognises the South African inspection systems as equivalent to that of the EU inspection bodies and therefore ensures less frequent checks at the port of import into the EU.

Continue reading →The Post-Harvest Innovation (PHI) Programme is a public-private partnership between the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Fresh Produce Exporters’ Forum (FPEF), with the FPEF as the implementing partner. The Programme is funded by the DSI’s Sector-Specific Innovation Fund. PHI is directed at developing innovative technology in the postharvest leg of the fresh fruit value chain, to develop and maintain the global competitiveness of the South African fresh fruit industry. The DSI’s premise for initiating and supporting the PHI Programme, launched in 2007, was based on the need to address the innovation challenges for building a competitive and sustainable fresh fruit export industry.

The Association was formed in the late 1940’s being a party to the then Industrial Council for the Retail Meat Trade in Gauteng. The Meat Traders Association Gauteng is affiliated to the National Federation of Meat Traders which is the only recognized National organisation representative of all role-players in this particular sector of the Meat Industry in South Africa. The Meat Traders Association Gauteng represents the interests of independent retailers’ opinions in both the established and the emergent sector as well as independent supermarkets and national chain stores. As the Federation represents the interests of the distributive Meat Industry on a national level, recognised by role players within the Industry from feedlots to the consumer, the Federation plays an important role and has a voice in the decision making processes within the Industry. Through this body, the Association is kept abreast of all developments within the food chain, from new legislation and regulation introduced by Government to fostering or stimulating demand for meat, offal and meat products to benefit our members within the Meat Trade. The Meat Traders Association represents employers at the National Federation of Meat Traders as well as representing employers in all Labour Disputes at the Bargaining Council for Meat Trade Gauteng and CCMA as well as employer queries pertaining to labour matters within the jurisdiction of the Bargaining Council for Meat Trade Gauteng.
