Continue reading →The Genealogical Society of South Africa (GSSA) is also known as Die Genealogiese Genootskap van Suid-Afrika. It was established in 1964 has twelve branches of which eleven are land based and one which is an electronic branch catering for members worldwide, via the internet. Each branch arranges its own activities and meets all year round apart from December and January. More information can be gleaned by visiting the branch pages of www.genza.org.za. Members become close friends and are more than happy to assist newcomers with their research. Many a dead end has been resolved by discussing the issue with a fellow genealogist.

After training with Lisa Parkinson and Henry Brown of the Family Mediators Association in the UK FAMAC adopted the FMA training model and became autonomous.
Continue reading →Family Care Association Pretoria (FCAP) worked in Mamelodi, a large township east of Pretoria with Stanza Bopape Community Development Centre, to distribute food and goods to underprivileged families and children. The objective was not to simply give hand-outs, but to provide education, training and assistance to help individuals and families become productive members of society. Most of the beneficiaries of FCAP programs live in deplorable conditions, but with assistance, training, and hope, their lives are able to change for the better.
