The mission of the General Public Service Sectoral Bargaining Council is to promote sound labour relations and ensure industrial stability through effective and efficient collective bargaining, dispute prevention, dispute resolution and good governance.
This bargaining council is a registered government bargaining council.
Membership to the Association is open to all Companies which have been allocated a Right to fish for hake by longline method pursuant to Section 18 of the Marine Living Resources Act and all vessel owning entities active in the hake longline sector.
As the recognized hake longline body in South Africa, they are unsurpassed in terms of our membership and credentials. A solid foundation has been developed and will continue to be built upon in the years to come.
Continue reading →The Council is governed by the Labour Relations Act of 1995, which allows for employer and employee organisations to establish a bargaining council for an industry and area. Through collective bargaining, trade unions and employer organisations, which are party to the Council, they are able to negotiate matters that are of mutual interest to the Road Freight and Logistics Industry. This approach allows for better regulation of matters which affect the Industry as a whole, thereby enforcing minimum standards and conditions of employment within the Road Freight and Logistics Industry, which ultimately contributes to labour stability. The Council also supports its members through managing the Industry’s annual leave, sick leave, holiday bonus funds, and by providing health and wellness as well as dispute resolution management services.
