Continue reading →The HSFSA uses the national health events calendar as a reference point for carrying out campaigns and awareness drives at target groups or at population level. Their mission states: “We intend to halt the rise of premature deaths through cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease (CVD) in South Africa and promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles.” They aim to reduce the burden placed on the South African healthcare system by cardiovascular disease. Their involvement in advocacy work to influence health and fiscal policy development is an exciting journey and our venture into the research space is even more exciting. However, on a day-to-day basis our work streams go far in reaching our goals.
Health Promotions Programme
The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa’s Health Promotions Programme empowers all South Africans to adopt healthy lifestyles through education and raising awareness of CVD. CVD is the leading preventable cause of death worldwide, and 80% of CVD can be prevented by lifestyle changes. The Health Promotion Programmes primary activities are conducting health risk assessments, doing community and corporate health talks, running the Mended Hearts groups and engaging in employee wellness programmes and public health campaigns.
The Aeronautical Society of SA (AeSSA) is a fully-fledged Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RaeS).
Our membership ranges from highly revered aerospace professionals to enthusiastic amateurs. We also embrace companies as members through the Associated Company Scheme (ACS), which includes some of the largest aerospace organisations in the world, to name Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Denel Aviation, Dowty, Daimler Chrysler Aerospace, BAE Systems, as just a few of the number of some 100 company members.

SLED works in partnership with teachers, schools, education departments, Deaf organisations, funding partners, donors, and people of good will, towards the education that Deaf learners need to fulfil their potential.
Continue reading →STIAS was established in 1999 to provide a ‘creative space for the mind’, a fellowship programme that would advance cross-disciplinary research at the highest level. Modelled on similar institutes internationally, STIAS is the first of its kind in Africa. Here, leading researchers and intellectuals from across the world are supported to think innovatively and pursue sustainable strategies to the challenges facing the world, with a focus on Africa. Offering various fellowships and scholarships, STIAS provides a uniquely supportive space for thinking, reading, debating and writing. While in residence, established and early-career researchers and artists meet daily over lunch, present and participate in weekly seminars, and organise conferences for a wider audience. In creating and curating this space, STIAS provides ideal conditions for innovative and original thinking to thrive.

Through research, sharing of best practice and community collaboration, we aim to grow a strong literacy community. We bring together individuals and organisations using various platforms including our workshops, national conference, outreach programmes, scholarly journal, website and social media. We operate at a national level and have four branches working locally. We comprise members who come from various spheres at all levels within the literacy sector. LITASA is a registered NPO and PBO.
Continue reading →The National School of Government (NSG) is mandated with the responsibility of ensuring that public servants comply with the provisions of established legislation, regulations and systems, and can exercise proper discretion and innovation in solving routine and complex delivery problems. To this end, the NSG is tasked with ensuring that all public servants’ participate and complete education, training and development initiatives, as per relevant legislation and Cabinet directives. The NSG is furthermore expected to ensure service delivery impact by supporting institutional performance. At a practical level, the mandate incorporates: (i) providing education and training, (ii) support institutional development, (iii) fostering collaboration, (iv) offering qualifications, and (v) conducting training, examinations or tests (pre-requisites). The mandate extends to providing all offerings in the three spheres of government, state-owned entities and other organs of state.
