Poultry Disease Management Agency (PDMA)

The PDMA, an initiative of the South African Poultry Association was established to have direct involvement in poultry disease control measures – ensuring quality control nationwide. It was envisaged that the PDMA would form partnerships with several stakeholders. The main stakeholder would be government, as most of the matters around disease control require government input. Over a period, the PDMA will form a Public Private Partnership with government to ensure that its objectives are met.

Post-Harvest Innovation Programme (PHI)

The Post-Harvest Innovation (PHI) Programme is a public-private partnership between the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Fresh Produce Exporters’ Forum (FPEF), with the FPEF as the implementing partner. The Programme is funded by the DSI’s Sector-Specific Innovation Fund. PHI is directed at developing innovative technology in the postharvest leg of the fresh fruit value chain, to develop and maintain the global competitiveness of the South African fresh fruit industry. The DSI’s premise for initiating and supporting the PHI Programme, launched in 2007, was based on the need to address the innovation challenges for building a competitive and sustainable fresh fruit export industry.

Post Natal Depression Support Association (PNDSA)

PNDSA (The Post-Natal Depression Support Association of South Africa) was officially constituted in February 1997, by a small group of health professionals, and “PND survivors”, under the leadership of Liz Mills. It is a registered non-profit association funded by donations from the private individuals, companies and membership fees, and is staffed, almost entirely, by volunteers. Charges for services are calculated on a sliding scale. Some professional members of PNDSA offer their services at a reduced rate.

While many mothers, do, in fact, experience the birth of a baby as a “happy event”; PNDSA is concerned with the ten to thirty percent of parents, for whom this is not true.

Packaging Council of South Africa (PACSA)

Packaging SA is a voluntary industry body. Its members are in two broad categories, Converters and Associates. The Converters represent some 70% of the revenue generated by the industry. Associates are in effect the major raw material suppliers, material organizations, brand owners, retailers and other organizations and associations with interests in the packaging industry. Collectively this body directly employs some 60 000 people in South Africa.

Packaging SA represents views of its members on National issues with particular focus on environmental matters.

Pomegranate Association of South Africa (POMASA)

The Pomegranate Producers Association of South Africa (POMASA) was established in 2009, with the main purpose of providing a structured platform through which industry specific matters could be addressed with a common benefit for its members.

The pomegranate industry gained popularity over recent years. As the industry became more commercialised, pomegranate producers realised the mutual benefits of forming an industry body through which common focus areas can be identified and addressed by the association.

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA)

PRASA is established in terms of Section 22 of the Legal Succession to the South African Transport Services Act on 2008 (as amended). It is a public entity wholly-owned by Government and report to the Minister of Transport. The legal mandate directs PRASA to deliver commuter rail services in the Metropolitan areas of South Africa, long-distance (inter-city) rail and bus services within, to and from the borders of the Republic of South Africa. This mandate is implemented in consultation with and under the guidance of the Minister of Transport.
