SAMSSA is affiliated to SASSCo (South African Shooting Sport Confederation) and to IMSSU (International Metallic Silhouette Shooting Union). Four provincial bodies assist in governing the sport: Western Province (WPMSSA), Gauteng (GMSSA), Free State (FSMSSA) and Eastern Province (EPMSSA).

Continue reading →At present 60 different sports are actively involved in the promotion of “Sport for Life” with regular participation in national and international competitions and championships. SAMSA is also a proud, good standing member of SASCOC.
South African Masters have brought home many gold, silver and bronze medals over the past 10 years and some have been crowned World Master Champions. SAMSA as a Federation of National Masters Sports bodies acknowledges and respects the autonomy of its members, with no interference in individual codes’ affairs and events/competitions.
The club was founded in 2003 and has grown bigger each year with 2017 being one of the most successful years the club has seen. The club trains two-three times a week at Settlers Dam where the canoes are stored in the racks there. Settlers Dam is situated in Thomas Baines Reserve and is a 20 minute drive from Grahamstown. The reserve and dam boasts beautiful scenery and many antelope including buffalo, kudu and waterbuck.

Continue reading →The South African Consolidated Recreational Angling Association (SACRAA) is a non-profit association that has been established in reaction to the limited level of recognition of the recreational sector by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (DAFF), the lack of transparency and interaction with the sector by DAFF, and out of concern for the declining state of some of our key angling species. SACRAA is an independent body that acts in the best interests of it members and the recreational fishing industry. It is not affiliated to any government institution or other angling organizations, but has the support of the South African Sport Anglers & Casting Confederation (SASACC; the controlling body for organized angling in South Africa) and the South African Fishing Tackle Agents & Distributors (SAFTAD). SACRAA is recognized as an interest group in terms of Section 8 of the Marine Living Resources Act (Act 18 of 1998) and will represent recreational fishing on Provincial Working Groups and local Co-Management Committees once the Inland Fisheries Policy is promulgated and implemented.
Continue reading →The Racehorse Owners Association was incorporated in December 1997 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Horseracing Industry in Gauteng and the Gauteng Provincial Government. The essence of the agreement, signed on 30 June 1997, was that the parties agreed to re-organise and restructure the business of the racing industry into a single corporate entity to be listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange as soon as practically possible. The new company would have a broad base of shareholders with specific emphasis on previously disadvantaged communities.
