Continue reading →The SA Collierry Engineers’ Association (SACEA) provides a cost-efficient administration for the Association, either alone or in conjunction with other professional associations in the mining industry, by employing, remunerating and determining duration and conditions of employment of any necessary full-time or part-time staff, consultants and specialists in the Coal Mining industry. SACEA is also recognized through the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Voluntary Association which provides some influence in terms of the accreditation of learning materials and institutions, as well as strengthening the Association’s role with regard to registration matters.

Founded in 1918, the IFE assesses knowledge of fire and professional experience, awarding internationally recognised membership grades and fire-related qualifications. Through its Engineering Council licence as a Professional Engineering Institution (PEI), the IFE registers suitably qualified IFE members as Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Engineering Technicians (Eng Tech). Learning opportunities are worldwide within the IFE fire community and the IFE delivers over 7,300 fire-related exams each year which are required by many Fire and Rescue Services for promotion both within the UK and internationally.

IPET strives to improve the image and status of engineering technologists of all disciplines and is hard at work to ensure that they get the recognition they so richly deserve.
IPET has succeeded in getting the National Building Regulations altered so as to authorise professional technologists to sign building plans as competent persons.
It has provided exclusivity in its membership by allowing only Professional Engineering Technologists as full corporate members of the Institute.
It has for years been trying to get full recognition for the engineering technologist in the Government Service and it is continuing the battle.
It is instrumental in the provision of Liability Insurance for its members in private practice.
IPET assists applicants who have been unsuccessful in obtaining registration as Professional Engineering Technologists in obtaining this sought-after status.
Tht AMRE’s aims are to consider, originate and promote the general advancement of all matters pertaining to the work of certificated mechanical and electrical engineers on the mines, to encourage their continuing professional development, to uphold their status and to protect the interests of its members.

Over 540 firms employing over 21 000 staff are members of CESA; these member firms range from large, multinational, multidisciplinary suppliers of a comprehensive range of planning, design and project delivery services, to many small- to medium-sized firms that tend to specialise in selected areas of the project delivery process.
