Continue reading →The stated purpose of the IBD is “the advancement of education of benefit to the public or a section of the public, specifically in the sciences of brewing, fermentation and distillation.” The word”sciences” needs to be interpreted broadly, and the Institute concerns itself with both scientific and technical matters to do with the brewing and packaging of fermented beverages. This includes general management aspects as appropriate.

Al-Anon offers understanding help; support to families and friends of problem drinkers. Our program is adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous and is based upon the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of Service.
Come to a meeting.The only requirement is that you have a relative or friend with a drinking problem. Your anonymity is protected. There are no fees for membership – we are self-supporting through voluntary contributions.
Formerly the SA Temperance Alliance since 1889, Alcohol and Drug Concerns has been active for more than 100 years. Alcohol and Drug Concerns is a non-profit, non-political, RESOURCE CENTRE providing information to all religions, community organizations, primary health clinics, corporates, schools and groups of 10 concerned people or more, who wish to learn how to cope with and combat the rising problem of substance abuse in South Africa. ADC will provide the means in the form of media and live presentations to benefit the community. There is no discrimination against religious beliefs or preferences. Information supplied is based on moral and ethical codes of conduct. ADC has various programmes available to the public to offer solutions to addiction problems. Our initiatives target vulnerable youth and adults (of all races) who are at risk of suffering the negative consequences of alcohol abuse and misuse through targeted on-the-ground initiatives which are aimed at reducing the harmful effects alcohol abuse has on our communities.
