Unfortunately, a significant portion of these newcomers lack the necessary expertise and knowledge to meet the desired quality standards. Consequently, consumers often fall victim to roofers and waterproofers who employ imported materials ill-suited to the country’s unique weather and climate conditions. Moreover, consumers struggle to identify reputable service providers, exacerbating the problem further. Recognizing the urgent need for oversight and regulation, The Professional Roof Repair and Waterproofing Association (PRAWA) was established in 2019. Serving as a regulatory body, PRAWA enforces stringent industry minimum standards and ensures the credibility of its licensed members through thorough vetting, comprehensive training opportunities via CPD implementation and assessment of their existing skills to ensure their compliance with industry minimum standards.
Membership with PRAWA requires contractors to fulfill a range of criteria, including operating as a registered company, holding a valid tax clearance certificate, possessing public liability insurance, workman’s compensation coverage, and complying with all relevant legislative requirements.
