This autonomous entity with head office based at VUT Technology station, in Sebokeng is controlled by an independent steering committee represented by its regional cluster members, labour, industry (SAFLIA), IDC and the DTI.
It has the function of creating a platform on which the Footwear industry can flourish.
The Medical Device and Diagnostic Innovation Cluster (MeDDIC) is a national initiative created to exploit a high concentration of skills, expertise, infrastructure and companies across South Africa within the medical devices field. The initiative, supported by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), is aimed at stimulating and intensifying technology innovation within the sector as well as encouraging an integrated ecosystem in support of increasing the competitiveness of the industry. It is hosted by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) under the Global Health Innovation Accelerator (GHIA) program.

VAMCOSA’s focus is to bring local valve and actuator manufacturers together in order to create a common focus and goal for the respective industries. VAMCOSA provides an effective platform for its members to Lobby Government through designated channels of The dti and the SACEEC with regard to industry specific concerns.

The cluster has the objective to strengthen local manufacturing companies with their exports into the global market. The aim for the hydraulic and pneumatic industry is to grow its presence firstly into Africa, Australia and the Americas and into other parts of the world. Through support from the dti, the aim is to designate hydraulic and pneumatic products in order to support local procurement from procuring entities.
