Human Resource Development Council (HRDC)

The Human Resource Development Council of South Africa (HRDC) is a national, multi-stakeholder advisory body chaired by the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa. It is managed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Training. The HRDC was established in March 2010 to facilitate conditions that promote the optimal participation of all stakeholders in the planning, stewardship, monitoring and evaluation of HRD activities in the country.

Genealogical Society of South Africa (GISA)

The Genealogical Society of South Africa (GSSA) is also known as Die Genealogiese Genootskap van Suid-Afrika. It was established in 1964 has twelve branches of which eleven are land based and one which is an electronic branch catering for members worldwide, via the internet. Each branch arranges its own activities and meets all year round apart from December and January. More information can be gleaned by visiting the branch pages of www.genza.org.za. Members become close friends and are more than happy to assist newcomers with their research. Many a dead end has been resolved by discussing the issue with a fellow genealogist.

The Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) is a trade union in South Africa. It was formed through the amalgamation of the Food and Canning Workers’ Union, the Sweet, Food and Allied Workers’ Union and the Retail and Allied Workers’ Union. FAWU is a founding affiliate of the South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU).The union’s core functions are recruiting and servicing its members and bargaining with employers over labour matters on its members’ behalf. The union recruits workers from the farming, forestry, food, fast food, beverage and fishing community, wholesale and retail as well as hospitality sectors.
