Parkinsons Disease South Africa (PDSA)
While there is limited data on Parkinson’s Disease in South Africa, it is safe to say that Parkinson’s Disease prevalence is increasing and the burden of Parkinson’s Disease is becoming increasingly important in the context of ageing populations across all cultural and ethnic groupings in South Africa and Africa at large.
The Parkinsons and Related Movement Disorder Association, established in 1970, regretfully deregistered in 2020 due to funding constraints. This has created an information and social vacuum for Patients with Parkinson’s Disease, their Families and Carers in South Africa, collectively “People impacted by Parkinsons”. While disparate groupings have been created across many urban centres, these are few and very far between.
The treatment of Parkinsons Disease in South Africa today is therefore largely one-dimensional through pharmaceutical treatment with little to no complementary rehabilitative treatment and lifestyle management programmes available to People impacted by Parkinsons.

The Professional Hunters’ Association of South Africa (PHASA) takes its social responsibility seriously. In 2003, PHASA established the PHASA Conservation Fund. Initially, the aim of the Fund was to promote and directly fund worthy conservation projects. In 2005, the Fund extended its mandate, and its name was changed to the PHASA Conservation and Empowerment Fund and in 2019 to the PHASA Foundation.

The NGC Enterprise Development Zone (NGC stands for Nobuhle – Glenrose Company, the founder) which is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) Reg. No. 2016/509709/08 was established in 2015. We have taken the initiative to start a non-profit company not only for our benefit, but to uplift and inspire rural and disadvantaged communities. Since 2015 NGC which is a Non- Profit organization (NPC) have distribute over 61 250 Packs of washable reusable sanitary towels/pads packs and still continue distributing them till to date.
In the year 2020 we had decided to develop a working relationship with Elangeni TVET College (280 Shezi Main Road, Mpumalanga Township) to manufacture the disposable sanitary pads known as Mvelo “The Nature” Sanitary Pads.
