It also seeks to maintain and expand job opportunities for black employees within the operations of the South African mohair industry. The principal objective of the Trust is to provide skills development, support, mentorship and assistance to previously disadvantaged and emerging farmers, with the aim of establishing and managing their own agricultural operations
Continue reading →The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a statutory body established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act No. 29 of 1996 and is a registered Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act No 97 of 1998 as amended.
The MQA must supports the objectives of the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP) 2020-2030 as guided by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), and also supports the objectives of the Mining Charter in terms of the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act No. 29 of 1996.

Continue reading →The Mine Health and Safety Council is a national public entity (Schedule 3A) established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, No 29 of 1996, as amended. The main task of the Council is to advise the Minister of Mineral Resources on occupational health and safety legislation and research outcomes focused on improving and promoting occupational health and safety in South African mines. The Council also oversees the activities of its committees; promotes a culture of health and safety in the mining industry; arranges a summit every two years to review the state of occupational health and safety at mines; and liaises with the Mining Qualifications Authority and any other statutory bodies about mining health and safety.
