Restaurant Association of South Africa (RASA)

RASA is a body that was formed in 2004 to act in the interests of the South African restaurateur as a voice and lobbying body to speak on the behalf of restauranteurs.

RASA has direct representation with government and various other boards and promotes restaurants as a sector of hospitality.

RASA lobbies against government and has relationships with SAT, NDT, DOL TBCSGTCATHSSETBAC and other friends of the association.

Guest House Accommodation of South Africa (GHASA)

GHASA was originally established as an association (Section 21, not for profit) in 1992, when a group of establishment owners got together to promote the Guest House Industry.

The association was subsequently privatised in 2000 and we’re now known as Guest House Accommodation of SA (GHASA).

Over the past couple of decades, GHASA has become well known as experts in Quality Guest House Accommodation, offering many benefits, assistance and valued advice to members, as well as booking opportunities for travellers.

CATRA (CATRA)

Catra is the oldest and largest representative association in South Africa, not only serving the hospitality industry, but all other industries nationally.
It is a registered employer’s association that represents, protects and promotes the interests of employers and their employees, as well as consumers. Providing services and benefits to its members, it also strives to foster harmonious relationships between members and their employees through the process of conciliation and dialogue.

Although not confined to the hospitality industry, Catra is the only body representing employers at the Bargaining Council for the Restaurant, Catering and Allied Trades.

The Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) is one of the 21 SETAs established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) in 2001.CATHSSETA was formally known as the Tourism and Hospitality Education and Training Authority (THETA) until 1 April 2012, when they became the Culture, Art, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority. Their mandate is to facilitate skills development within their sub-sectors through the disbursement of grants for learning programmes and monitoring of education and training as outlined in the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).
