As time progressed and the needs of the industries changed, SAGIS was approached to also render additional information services to the industries, for example the monitoring of import tariffs, audit certificates for minimum market access and weekly import and export figures for the maize and wheat industries.

National Woolgrowers’ Association of South Africa (NWGA)

The National Woolgrowers Association of SA (NWGA), also known as the Nasionale Wolkwekersvereniging Van Suid Afrika (NWSA), having been founded in 1926 and established in 1929, is the oldest producer organisation serving the wooled sheep farmer. It has since developed into a countrywide association comprising of 6 provinces with a membership base of more than 4 500 commercial and 20 000 communal members. Branches can be found in all provinces.

Our motto is more sheep: more wool and this is achieved through the performance of Production Technology Services which is offered to commercial and communal farmers.

The SA Grain Farmers Association (SAGRA) is a Non-Profit Organisation that is incorporated under South African legislation. The organisation was founded by grain farmers from various grain producing regions of South Africa in June 2018. South African Grain Farmers Association is a grain commodity organisation widely known as “SAGRA”. SAGRA is a voluntary membership based organisation that represents the interests of small-scale and developing commercial grain farmers in the South Africa grain industry.

Farmer Support Group (FSG)

FSG was established in 1985 in the Department of Plant Pathology of the, then, University of Natal, with the aim of making relevant scientific knowledge available to smallholder farmers. It now conducts action research to address issues pertinent to resource-constrained farmers. It also provides training, advice and project support in sustainable farming (including agroecology), nature conservation, strengthening local institutions, and enterprise development. Training is provided to development practitioners and students in participatory approaches to research and extension. Community members and other partner service providers, including government extension staff and scientists participate in designing and implementation of projects.
