Continue reading →The Hydraulic and Pneumatic Export Cluster is the newest cluster formed under the umbrella of the SACEEC early 2018. The cluster has the objective to strengthen local manufacturing companies with their exports into the global market. The aim for the hydraulic and pneumatic industry is to grow its presence firstly into Africa, Australia and the Americas and into other parts of the world. Through support from the dti, the aim is to designate hydraulic and pneumatic products in order to support local procurement from procuring entities.

It has a particular focus on emerging markets in Africa that are considered too risky for conventional insurers. Its overarching goal and its mandate from the South African government as its sole shareholder is to make South African exporters attractive to international buyers to attract foreign income, stimulate domestic economic growth and create local jobs.

The FPEF is also a member of Fruit South Africa (FSA), together with the countrys five growers associations. This position strengthens the FPEFs role of providing leadership and services to its members, the international buying community and the fresh produce export industry as a whole.

Continue reading →The Post-Harvest Innovation (PHI) Programme is a public-private partnership between the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and the Fresh Produce Exporters Forum (FPEF), with the FPEF as the implementing partner. The Programme is funded by the DSIs Sector-Specific Innovation Fund. PHI is directed at developing innovative technology in the postharvest leg of the fresh fruit value chain, to develop and maintain the global competitiveness of the South African fresh fruit industry. The DSIs premise for initiating and supporting the PHI Programme, launched in 2007, was based on the need to address the innovation challenges for building a competitive and sustainable fresh fruit export industry.
