South African Consolidated Recreational Angling Association (SACRAA)

The South African Consolidated Recreational Angling Association (SACRAA) is a non-profit association that has been established in reaction to the limited level of recognition of the recreational sector by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (DAFF), the lack of transparency and interaction with the sector by DAFF, and out of concern for the declining state of some of our key angling species. SACRAA is an independent body that acts in the best interests of it members and the recreational fishing industry. It is not affiliated to any government institution or other angling organizations, but has the support of the South African Sport Anglers & Casting Confederation (SASACC; the controlling body for organized angling in South Africa) and the South African Fishing Tackle Agents & Distributors (SAFTAD). SACRAA is recognized as an interest group in terms of Section 8 of the Marine Living Resources Act (Act 18 of 1998) and will represent recreational fishing on Provincial Working Groups and local Co-Management Committees once the Inland Fisheries Policy is promulgated and implemented.

South African Institute of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects (SAIMENA)

SAIMENA is the SA Institute of Marine Engineers and Naval Architects, the only technical society in South Africa dedicated to marine engineers and naval architects.

SAIMENA was founded to represent South African Marine Engineers and Naval Architects. It now has branches in Cape Town and Durban, with a total membership of over 400. Its members are from all sections of the industry, seagoing engineers, ship repairers, shipbuilders, marine paints,classification societies, salvage associations, the S.A.Navy, naval architects, marine consultants, educators etc. – in fact, people who live by the marine industry.

South African Institute of Materials Handling (SAIMH)

The SA Institute of Materials Handling is a non-profit organisation which was formed in 1974 to promote the advancement of technology in fields such as bulk and unit handling, stacking and storage, transport and shipping and waste recycling. The SAIMH also offers technical support and training to Technicon and University students, in the form of assistance with projects and research. This assistance is gladly extended to those who are already working in the materials handling industry.
