Metal Recyclers Association of South Africa (MRA)

The Metal Merchants Association was registered as an employer’s association in 1942 during WWII when South Africa introduced the Strategic Metals Act which severely limited the movement of secondary metal for recycling.
In 1999 the association changed its name to Metal Recyclers Association of South Africa (MRA) to accurately depict its involvement in the metal recycling industry. The constitution was amended and registered with the Department of Labour. The association adopted a code of conduct that commits its members to the highest degree of business ethics.

Today the MRA has a diverse membership base made up of organisations that are engaged in the collection and processing of more than 80% of all scrap metal in South Africa for beneficiation by downstream industry.

Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA)

MISa registered trade union for employees in the retail motor industry in South Africwas formed after the merger of the Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA) and the SA Motor Union (SAMU). Together, these two organisations have a proud history of 130 years in the Retail Motor Sector.

Members enjoy the focused approach of a well-versed negotiating team representing members’ interests in the collective bargaining process on wages and conditions of employment at the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO).

Qualified labour law practitioners provide free and expert legal advice and, where appropriate, the necessary legal defence to members in the resolution of labour disputes. The problem-solving approach is a major contributing factor in the resolution of disputes in the workplace.

The Bloemfontein (Mangaung) Chamber of Commerce and Industry was constituted in March 2004 following unity negotiations among three former business organisations – CBI/SBI (‘Central Business Incorporated), the AHI and NAFCOC. In forming a new chamber of commerce and industry, the unifying bodies agreed to forego their independent identities. Following the unification, the Bloemfontein Chamber of Commerce and Industry is actively campaigning for recognition of the local and provincial governments as the representative of the business community in Bloemfontein as well as the Free State.
