As the prime export council in South Africa that focuses on built-environmental professions, we operate in a partnership with the South African Department of Trade and Industry (dti). As a result, our mandate is in line with their objectives: diversifying South Africa’s export sector by helping built-environment companies identify and access new markets. Additionally, we are also working towards transforming South Africans exports by helping smaller and black-owned businesses become export ready.

Bargaining Council for the Food Retail, Restaurant, Catering & Allied Trades (BCFOOD)

The primary function of the Bargaining Council for the Food Retail, Restaurant, Catering & Allied Trades is to regulate relations between Management and Labour and to settle disputes between parties. We are registered by the Department of Labour in terms of section 29 of the LRA and are accredited by the CCMA for Arbitrations and Conciliations. In terms of section 28 parties to the council conclude collective agreements and the council enforces the agreement to prevent and resolve labour disputes.
At the request of the council ‘designated agents’ are appointed by the Minister to help enforce our collective agreement. Our agreement is extended to non-parties.

B-BEE Commission (BBBEEC)

We are established by Section 13B of B-BBEE Act 46 of 2013 and we have jurisdiction throughout the South Africa. We must be impartial and perform our functions without fear, favour or prejudice, in the most cost-effective manner and in accordance with the values and principles mentioned in section 195 of the Constitution. In terms of Section 13E, we are financed from money that is appropriated by Parliament for the B-BBEE Commission, and money lawfully received from any other source. The Auditor-General is mandated to audit our financial records every year.
