Boland Master Builders and Allied Trades Association (BMBATA)

Whilst a number of local building contractors got together during 1946, the association was only formally established in 1948 with a registered constitution and an elected Executive Committee.

Over the past 64 years the association grew in stature and currently has over 200 members from most of the disciplines in the building industry. The full-time office is manned by five employees.

A variety of services are provided to members and the main objective is to look after their interests and provide them with the necessary information to operate their businesses successfully.

It provides the public infrastructure, supporting the cotton industry, raising awareness of critical issues, providing information necessary for decision-making, and facilitating cooperation on matters of shared interest. Cotton SA further acts as an industry forum and an advisory body to various government departments, applying appropriate statutory measures in terms of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act and administering them accordingly

It is the formal spokes body for this sector. Its current members are companies holding permits to farm mussels and oysters. Cape Furniture Manufacturers’ Association (CFMA)

The CFMA is a registered employer’s organisation in terms of the Labour Relations Act and represents and serves employers (businesses) in the furniture manufacturing industry as a collective.

The CFMA is party to the Furniture Bargaining Council and represents its members in collective bargaining with Unions at an Industry level. Collective bargaining at this level includes negotiations regarding conditions of employment and wages.
