Continue reading →The Lusito Association was established in 1979 by a group of Portuguese parents who found a need for a school for the differently abled within the Portuguese community. The Lusito Association started the first Lusito School under the auspices of the Mental Health Society of the Witwatersrand and has subsequently grown with the school. The Lusito Association is a non-profit organisation whose function is to manage and fundraise, to build and maintain, the Lusito School. The best known fundraising event is the Lusito Land Festival, winning Leisure Options Reader’s Choice Award for Johannesburg’s best festival. 100% of all funds raised from these fundraising events go directly to the school.

The Society currently reaches the poor, unemployed African people living in rural areas who do not have the finances or ability to receive services. The greatest challenge that the Society faces, is how to improve these unfortunate individuals quality of life. The sad situation is that these almost forgotten people are not only deprived, but also disabled, which leaves them feeling very inadequate and incapable, and the sad fact is that most of them receive no external assistance
Continue reading →The National Institute for the Deaf (NID) was founded in 1881 as the Doofstommen Instituut. The establishment of the Institute was an answer to a shared dilemma faced by two reverends of the Dutch Reformed Church. Both had Deaf congregants, but no idea how to serve them with the Word of God because they couldn’t communicate with them. The Institute was thus established to help Deaf people read and write so that they could read the Bible and also have access to the same rights as the hearing.
Some 138 years after the Doofstommen Instituut opened its doors, having seen many changes in its own history and that of the country it serves, NID has become a private, dynamic, innovative non-profit company.

The Gauteng Growth & Development Agency (GGDA) came into existence on the 01st June 2012, as part of the reconfiguration of Gauteng provincial agencies. The Gauteng Economic Development Agency (GEDA) and Blue IQ Investment Holdings have merged to form the Gauteng Growth & Development Agency. The GGDA’s key purpose is to maximise the effect of developing the economy of Gauteng, through support growth of the cooperatives economy, facilitation of trade and investment and increased strategic economic infrastructure.
Our subsidiary companies include the Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), The Innovation Hub (TIH), Gauteng Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) and the Constitution Hill Development Company (ConHill).
PHASA advocates equitable access to the basic conditions necessary to achieve health for all South African as well as equitable access to effective health care. PHASA will work with other public health associations and related organisations and advocate on national and international issues that impact on the conditions for a healthy society.

Our mission is to promote labour peace in the public health and social development sectors of South Africa by engaging in constructive collective bargaining regarding issues of mutual interests to all the parties to the Council; and
Facilitating dispute prevention measures to pre-empt the occurrence of disputes within the sector and the resolution of all sector-wide labour disputes speedily and to the satisfaction of all parties involved.
This bargaining council is a registered government bargaining council.
