Continue reading →The Witwatersrand Bird Club (aka Wits Bird Club) is the oldest bird club in South Africa having been established in 1947 and is a club which prides itself in supporting numerous local, national and international birding conservation initiatives and searching for, and enjoying the local birds of the region.
The Witwatersrand Bird Club is proud to be the oldest bird club in the BirdLife South Africa (BLSA) family and is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The club is further represented by three satellite branches in the Johannesburg metropole by the East Rand, West Rand and Henley-on-Klip branches. The Wits Bird Club is a Non Profit Organisation which welcomes members of any age, background or experience in birding as long as they have one thing in common a love for birds and a concern to conserve them and their environments. The objectives of the club include the promotion of, inter alia, the enjoyment, understanding, study and conservation of indigenous wild birds of South Africa.
