It is a permanent expert Commission with a constitutionally defined structure, set of generic responsibilities and institutional processes. The Commission has the responsibility to advise and make recommendations to Parliament, provincial legislatures, organised local government and other organs of State on financial and fiscal matters. And its primary role is to ensure the creation and maintenance of an effective, equitable and sustainable system of intergovernmental fiscal relations in South Africa.

South African fishing industry. It represents 12 fisheries associations that jointly harvest, process and market about 500 000 tons of fish per year. These products are sold into the local market and exported to all four corners of the globe. Whereas some low-value fish species are an important source of affordable protein for millions of South Africans, other species are highly appreciated on export markets and generate foreign exchange and economic benefits for South Africa.
The mission of the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority is to promote legally compliant, responsible, sustainable and transformed gaming and liquor industries through effective licensing, regulating and reporting on the activities of the industries, and to market and promote the Free State province as a tourist destination of choice.
The Entity’s strategic objectives are: to ensure the effective and efficient marketing of tourism, promotion of tourism and development of sustainable tourism within the province; an effective tourism marketing and promotion strategy; marketing initiatives adequately covering provincial geographic spread and seasonality; effective utilisation of media platforms; and hosting of events to promote the Free State province as a tourist destination of choice.

Continue reading →The Fern Society of Southern Africa (also known as the Varingvereniging van Suidelike Afrika) has been associated with various persons, places and organizations including Keith Kirsten’s Waterkloof Garden Centre (1985), the Manie van der Schijff Botanical Garden of the University of Pretoria (1989), the Pretoria National Botanical Garden (1990) and the Fern Festival in Graskop (1992). Several fern surveys were done for forestry companies as well as for Nature Conservation and various private landowners over the past 27 years. The Society presently has approximately 80 members throughout Southern Africall sharing a mutual interest in ferns.
