The Society aims to promote and improve the breeding, genetic quality, and productivity of Shorthorn and Swedish Red cattle. It works to preserve the purity of these breeds, encourage their development through sound selection and production testing, and prevent contamination from other breeds. The Society maintains breed standards, pedigree records, and herd book registrations to ensure accurate documentation and genetic integrity. It also promotes participation in agricultural shows, approves and nominates qualified judges, and encourages the use of certified judges at cattle events. In addition, the Society supports the collection and evaluation of production and conformation data to improve breed performance and safeguard the interests of breeders. Overall, its purpose is to advance the development, recognition, and welfare of the Shorthorn and Swedish Red breeds while promoting the common interests of their breeders.
