Continue reading →The National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAFCOC) is federated chamber .It is one of the largest business chambers in South Africa with representation in all 9 provinces of South Africa. It was established in 1964 by black traders in Soweto. NAFCOC’s founding fathers include some of South Africa’s black business luminaries such as Dr Richard MaponyDr Sam Motseunyane , Bigvai Masekela and S.Z Conco. NAFCOC’s main objective is to promote and encourage the development of small business in South Africa and thereby draw the majority from the peripheries to the frontlines of economic activity and decision making.
Continue reading →As part of the Natal Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), the Natal Institute of Immunology (NII) was founded to expand the science of immunology, with particular reference to its application in clinical and preventative medicine. Originally located on the 3rd floor of 149 Prince Street in Durban, the NII used extensive NBTS experience to develop the expanding science of immunology for the benefit of humanity. In 2000 the NII combined the Immunochemistry and ELISA Production Units to became the newly defined Biotechnology Division which was incorporated into the NBI.

Registered as a society not for gain, it was headed by a policy-making council chaired by the provincial administrator and representative of all interested parties, including the province, the city municipalities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg, the department of national education, the business sector as well as representatives of the various performing art forms. Their function was to provide provide artists and artisans with a secure career option, to develop and promote dramballet, music and opera by offering audiences in the province with regular professional productions.

NACA has Branches around the country – the Northern Branch (Gauteng), the Western Cape Branch, the KwaZulu-Natal Branch and the North-West Branch. Branches are run by the local branch council, and regularly host seminars and discussion forums. The annual NACA Conference rotates between provinces, and the branches are generally the local organising committee of the conference. If there is not an active branch in your areyou will be allocated to the branch geographically closest to you.
