GASA is an association created to promote the professional interests of Geostatisticians through:

Increasing awareness of Geostatistics and the application of spatial statistics in Southern Africa
Facilitating communication between practitioners
Representing the opinions of professional Geostatisticians to the public and industry
Historically, the science of Geostatistics has been developed within the context of the Mining and Petroleum industry, but it can also be practically applied in the fields of environment, agriculture, forestry, fishery and epidemiology.
