South African Consolidated Recreational Angling Association (SACRAA)
The SA Consolidated Recreational Angling Association (SACRAA) is a non-profit association that has been established in reaction to the limited level of recognition of the recreational sector by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (DAFF), the lack of transparency and interaction with the sector by DAFF, and out of concern for the declining state of some of our key angling species. SACRAA is an independent body that acts in the best interests of it members and the recreational fishing industry. It is not affiliated to any government institution or other angling organizations, but has the support of the South African Sport Anglers & Casting Confederation (SASACC; the controlling body for organized angling in South Africa) and the South African Fishing Tackle Agents & Distributors (SAFTAD). SACRAA is recognized as an interest group in terms of Section 8 of the Marine Living Resources Act (Act 18 of 1998) and will represent recreational fishing on Provincial Working Groups and local Co-Management Committees once the Inland Fisheries Policy is promulgated and implemented.
