Continue reading →Reconstituted in 2015, the South African Institute of Architects is a voluntary association and is the natural successor to the Institute of South African Architects which was originally established in 1927 and renamed the South African Institute of Architects in 1996.
SAIA incorporates the nine existing regional institutes: Border-Kei [Eastern Cape], CIfA [Western Cape], Eastern Cape, Free State, GIfA [Gauteng], KZNIA [KwaZulu-Natal], Limpopo, Mpumalanga and PIA [Gauteng].
The mission of the Institute is to act as the collective voice serving the interests of its members in pursuit of excellence and responsible design. It aims to uphold the dignity of the architectural profession and contribute meaningfully to the enhancement of society and the environment. The fundamental principles of equality and justice are implicit in our Constitution.
SAIA is a member of the Africa Union of Architects (AUA), the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), the International Union of Architects (UIA), the International Commission on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), and the International Committee Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement. Continue reading →SAIME is a non-profit institution registered in terms of the Non-Profit Act 71 of 1997. The Company was formally formed in 2016 January and registered with CIPC in 2019 under the registration number 2019/091601/08 to meet the requirements of SAQA. SAIME has a database of medico-legal experts and healthcare practitioners who are qualified in all medical disciplines. SAIME`s sole responsibility is to provide and source medico-legal experts who inter alia, provide expert opinions, evidence, joint minutes administration, and report writing. These health care practitioners are certified Medico-Legal Experts after completion of the training and they therefore take an oath of code of ethics and professionalism.

Continue reading →The SA Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (NRF-SAIAB) is a national facility of the National Research Foundation (NRF). The NRF-SAIAB contributes to two National Operation Phakisa Labs through which South Africa has identified the potential to develop the Biodiversity Economy and the Blue Economy. With a significant amount of funding from the Department of Science and Innovation and the National Research Foundation, SAIAB has developed several high-level platforms capable of undertaking research in various environments; these have positioned the Institute as an innovative leader in aquatic biodiversity research. All of SAIAB’s activities – research, student supervision and platform provision – support the Higher Education sector in the education, training and development of the aquatic managers and researchers of the future.
