Statutory Council for the Squid and Related Fisheries of South Africa (SCSRFSA)

The Statutory Council for the Squid and Related Fisheries of South Africa was established in August 2007 by the Honourable Minister of Labour, in terms of the Labour Relations Act, 66 of 1995. The Council is a completely independent body and therefore does not belong to and is not controlled by any political party, trade union or business. Currently there are three parties to this Council, namely (i) the Food and Allied Worker’s Union (FAWU), (ii) the United Democratic Food and Combined Worker’s Union (UDF&CWU) and the Small Employers Association for the Squid Industry (SEASI). Two members of each of these parties constitute the Executive Committee of this Statutory Council. This council is a statutory bargaining council.
