LP Gas is classified as a “hazardous substance”. It is such an efficient form of energy, and has a high calorific value. LPG “must” be handled and used with care. We encourage manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and end users to adhere to the safety regulations, that have been put in place to ensure end user and public safety. As such, the LPGSASA have put in place several schemes to assist with LP Gas safety, as well as information and guides in terms of using LP Gas safely.The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa (NPC) was established in September of 1987 and operates as a non profit organisation that represents the many companies that are involved in LPGas installations, distribution, retailing, hardware and appliances. The Association’s aim is to ensure the sustainable growth of the liquefied petroleum gas industry through compliance with best safety and business practices. We offer a number of services to industry to ensure safety. These include technical LP Gas training, facilitation of technical meetings concerning standards, safe appliance scheme, cylinder verification and incident investigation with the Department of Labour.
